I took a little Bose Soundlink speaker with me and played a couple of drone sounds through it. "You can hear it, the first chapter is waking up in the cave, listening to the water pouring in from the safety of the tent and then the middle chapter is the meditation deep underground, and the third chapter is emerging back into the forest. “The Ecuador piece itself, which is actually one piece of music in three chapters but it’s very clear that it’s meant to be listened to in one go… That’s an example of a piece that does have a specific narrative based on an experience I had. It was amazingly satisfying to never once even look at the part of the screen where there’s a tempo Everything you’ve been through and everything that’s going on in the world is all going in there. It doesn’t just have to be cosmic or mystical, it will absorb your relationship experiences, your break-ups. Then, when you start writing, it’ll be informed by that whether you like it or not. "You don’t have to actually worry about capturing or remembering them in any way as it will all go in. I’ve said this in interviews before so I hope it’s not boring for people to hear but I believe in writing using the subconscious, so I think, essentially, you just have to have a lot of experiences… in my case, as many cosmic and mystical experiences as possible. “Nothing happened over there apart from me experiencing the place. So, I think doing a third album in that vein wasn’t appealing although I obviously didn’t realise at the time that it would end up going quite so far in a different direction.”Įcuador is about as far away as you can get… were any of the ideas for the tracks written in situ whilst you were over there? The names kind of give it away, but the last two albums I always saw as being related. But if you’ve got the budget, and you favour sound quality over anything else, this plugin is definitely worth checking out.“It’s been really amazing to release that track. Tverb is one of the most expensive plugins on this list, so for beginner producers looking to dip their toes in the world of reverb plugins, this may be well above your price range. This results in the integration of three completely independent reverbs with compression and selectable polar patterns on microphone 1 and adjustable gates on microphones 2 and 3.īut this level of sound quality and vintage authenticity comes at a price, literally. Tverb’s reverb engine is based on this concept, allowing you to actually move the mics within a visualized hall. In the 70’s, Visconti created a truly unique method of creating reverb, using 3 seperate mics in a large hall in Berlin’s Hansa Studios, and then adjusting the distance and gate to create a lush, spacious reverberating effect. Working closely with Eventide Plugins, Visconti has created one of the most sonically stunning reverb plugins I’ve ever come across: Tverb. Tony Visconti is primarily known for his extensive work with David Bowie, T-Rex, and countless other world-renowned pop and rock acts. In all honesty, I’d say this is easily the best reverb plugin in this price range. However, despite it’s powerful and insane sound quality, PhoenixVerb Stereo has a mid-low price tag. Like most of the leading audio plugin companies, iZotope’s plugins can get pretty expensive. PhoenixVerb Stereo has a whopping 900 presets, so it’s a fantastic plugin for rapid inspiration for both beginner and advanced producers. So if you’re looking to create more vintage, grainy reverbs, there are definitely better suited options out there. Sonically, this plugin focuses on creating smooth, spacious, authentic reverb effects with a beautiful level of depth and clarity. Their PhoenixVerb Stereo plugin is part of the Exponential Audio reverb bundle, and definitely stands out as the best sounding plugin in the bundle. iZotope is an audio software development company responsible for some of most eclectic, versatile VST plugins on the market. Even if you’re a complete beginner to music production plugins, you may have heard of iZotope.
